Balfour Beatty is conducting a phased re-opening of a factory in Avonmouth near Bristol that makes concrete segments for Hinkley Point C, after 22 employees there tested positive for covid-19.
Following the plant’s closure on 24 July 2020, the NHS’s Test and Trace procedure was deployed and has not found anyone affected by covid-19 on the Hinkley Point C programme. Balfour Beatty added that there was no impact on the main construction programme of works.
A spokesperson for Balfour Beatty said: “Having discussed
our approach with Public Health England and the Health and Safety Executive we
are implementing a carefully managed, phased return of our workforce.
“To support the phased re-opening we have implemented a
number of additional measures, such as segregated entrance and exit points
around the site, as well as supporting those who must self-isolate when
displaying any symptoms.”
