Build UK has told contractors that construction workers must now wear face coverings in canteens except when seated at a table to eat and drink.
The advice followed a change in the rules for indoor
premises providing hospitality, as part of a raft of new restrictions introduced
by the government last week, which are set to last six months.
Build UK said it expected the advice covering indoor hospitality
to include canteens. The Construction Leadership Council’s statement on face
coverings is currently being reviewed to ensure it reflects the new requirements.
It added that car sharing two and from work is still
permitted in England and Wales, although people should try to avoid sharing a
vehicle with those outside their household or support bubble, while Scotland
has restricted it to people from the same household unless absolutely
necessary.
Build UK added that variations in restrictions across the
four nations is “not helpful” for businesses that work across the whole of the
UK.
