The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) is to hold its first-ever World Quality Day Conference.
CIOB president Mark Beard will open and close the conference
on Thursday 12 November 2020 from 9.30am – 2.00pm GMT. Quality is the focus of Beard’s
presidential year.
World Quality Day (WQD) is celebrated annually on the second
Thursday in November to help to raise the profile and highlight the positive
impact of quality in organisations.
The CIOB highlighted it as a key opportunity for
construction to recognise the role that quality plays in building and
sustaining trust in the industry and beyond. It said: “Quality is a global
issue for our industry and as members of the world’s largest professional body
for construction management and leadership, we all have a responsibility to
work to create a better industry.
“As the landscape for construction changes, staying up to
date has never been more important. The industry is being reshaped by
legislation including the new Building Safety Bill. There is a once in a
generation opportunity to change the culture of quality in our industry and
regain public trust. “
Speakers include: Lorna Stimpson, CEO of the Local Authority
Building Control; Anne Bentley, global director of Rider Levitt Bucknall and
member of the Construction Leadership Council; and Geoff Wilkinson, managing director
of Wilkinson Construction Consultants.
This event will explore what the future might hold for the
built environment, the future of construction quality and the possibilities for
our homes and places of work.
